New Version of XBRL Consistency Suite Covers Detailed Footnotes, FASB's 2011 Taxonomy Pre-Release
XBRL US has released a new version of XBRL Consistency Suite, a set of online tools that help public companies identify inconsistencies in XBRL documents related to the use of the US GAAP Taxonomy. The new version has improved functionality and includes 60% more checks that now cover detailed footnote tagging in addition to the face financials. The new release also allows public companies to compare the 2009 Release of the XBRL US GAAP Taxonomy to the 2011 FASB Pre-Release.
XBRL US also announced that it will host a free webinar on Wednesday, July 28th at 3:00 p.m. ET for public company preparers on how to avoid common errors in XBRL creation, with a demo of XBRL Consistency Suite. Register at http://xbrl.us/avoiderrors.

FASB 2011 US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy "Pre-release" Now Available
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has pre-released the 2011 US GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy. An updated taxonomy will be released in September 2010, starting the official 60-day public comment period. FASB is making the pre-release available to provide SEC filers, service providers, and other interested parties with an opportunity to become familiar with and incorporate new element names (i.e., post-2009 US GAAP taxonomies) as company extension element names for current filings and to solicit filer feedback early.

President of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) Will Give Keynote Address at XBRL US National Conference, November 9 -10
XBRL US will hold its annual conference, The Path to Transparency, on November 9-10, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The program will focus on how the use of XBRL can lead to greater transparency with an emphasis on real-world implementation such as XBRL for US GAAP reporting. Development programs underway including XBRL for corporate actions and proxy and other areas in securities processing will also be key topics. Terri Polley, President of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) and Donna Roy, Director, Enterprise Data Management Office, Executive Director, National Information Exchange Model (NIEM), will provide keynote addresses.

In the over 2,000 XBRL submissions to date, thousands of inconsistencies or errors have been identified related to the use of the US GAAP Taxonomy. These errors include incorrect signs, missing concepts, and concepts used incorrectly. XBRL US will host a free webinar on July 28 for public company preparers. They will learn how to check their XBRL documents for errors and learn about current industry practice. Experts from United Technologies and Ernst & Young will explain how they conduct peer analysis and how auditors review XBRL documents.
